Gem made their breakthrough in Production Design in 2017 with Amazon Prime’s limited series The Collection, a period piece set in post WW2 Paris. This role instilled in them a drive and passion for depicting character detail and storytelling through design. In 2023 they designed Sarah Phelps’ five-time BAFTA nominated BBC drama The Sixth Commandment, creating a seamlessly complete world in which these tragic murders could be recreated. From an art and design background, specialising in fine art and graphic design, Gem has been working within the art department in film and tv for 20 years. Gem remains committed to pushing the boundaries of narrative design. Their work is characterised by a fearless adaptability and a constant pursuit of aesthetic quality.
